My name is Kerry and I want to welcome you my new Blog. It is my goal that it will become a true representation of who I am and what I love, or shall I say “how” I love – with food!
Since I was a young boy, I’ve had a love relationship with the kitchen. I’m not sure if it was ignited by my innate interest in cooking. Perhaps it was stoked by cooking with the important women in my life. Maybe it was kindled by my family just sitting around the kitchen table sharing memorable moments. No matter the specific reason, to this day there is no place I feel more at home than in my kitchen. It is not only the center of my home, but ultimately my very being.
The kitchen is where it all happens. Most of us already understand that it is the place where we create and consume the food that nourishes our bodies, but it also nourishes our souls. When we cook together with friends and family, the kitchen provides us the necessary space and opportunity to nurture our most important relationships. Even if we cook the meals on our own, the cooking we provide is a gift to ourselves and others.
Eating good food made for you by someone you love, including yourself, is one of the greatest pleasures of life. Cooking literally makes love not only visible but literally tangible with its visual appeal, aromatic smells, and intricate textures that dance on your tongue. Any of these characteristics has the ability to take you back to a fond memory or even create a new one.
I don’t know about you, but my food memories are associated to the cycle of each year whether it is peas in the spring, tomatoes in the summer, and cranberries in the fall or even by a recipe like strawberry shortcake in the summer or a pot of chili in the fall – food is an important part of all of the seasons of our lives.
All of these themes are what will be behind my blog. Here you will find seasonal recipes, suggested cooking methods, and advice that will help you share your love with those who are most important to you, and in the process, hopefully create loving memories they will cherish for a lifetime.
So Eat, Drink and Be M/Kerry for tomorrow there may be no leftovers!
